How the media echo chamber makes little Fox News look big
By Kevin Drum
(Mother Jones)Even in prime time, Fox has a couÂple milÂlion viewÂers — that’s about 1% of AmerÂiÂcan adults — and the other operÂaÂtions have a milÂlion or so. Cable news is a moleÂhill that gets rouÂtinely turned into a mounÂtain range because they hapÂpen to be talkÂing about the most self-obsessed bunch of gosÂsip hounds in the counÂtry: politicians.
But the realÂity is that almost no one is watchÂing. Take away the echo chamÂber and Glenn Beck would be about as imporÂtant as a guy on a soapÂbox in CenÂtral Park. Which is basiÂcally what he is.
